Hassani dialect

TThe Hassaniya dialect is among the oldest Arabic dialects. Sahrawis call it “Kalam al-Baydan” to distinguish it from the dialects of Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. The Hassaniya dialect is characterized by specific phonetic and morphological characteristics, as it represents a linguistic unity despite some differences in the lexicon between its different regions. The Hassani dialect has been able to maintain a similar structure to Classical Arabic and is characterized by the preservation of many of the features of Classical Arabic. In addition, the Hassani dialect has been enriched with Amazigh words, expressions, and terms, since the areas where it is spoken were initially Amazigh. It is now spoken by a mixture of Amazigh and Arabs.
