Hassani literature

Hassani literature is famous for its prose and poetry, which has witnessed many developments in terms of form and content, allowing it to be divided into two periods: Ancient and Modern, each of which has its own character and features. The themes of Hassani poetry are influenced by the desert environment and nomadic life with its customs and traditions, where the aesthetics of life between solution and travel, depicting oases, grassy places and water wells, in addition to describing daily details of animals, travelers, livestock, clothes and jewelry, and depicting social and religious events. Hassani poetry is also characterized by the diversity of its themes, as both men and women sing, and women’s poetry is characterized by a special color known as “Tabraa”, which deals with the flirting of women with men.

 

Hassani poetry has a deep aesthetic sense and a high linguistic intuition, as its homogeneous poems are imbued with imagination and aesthetics, with accurate descriptions of nature and landscapes, and play the strings of daily life with passion and sensitivity. The poets avoid falling into the trap of meaning-laden words and preserve the larger value of poetry, poets and singers. The predominant form of music in the region is the drum, accompanied by dancing and enthusiasm, where the singing is synchronized with the rhythms of the drum and followed by a sequence of songs and songs specific to each social class. It is worth noting that Hassani poetry is sung on musical instruments of all kinds.
